Music Therapy Services of Greater Atlanta
|
Providing professional music therapy services to the metro Atlanta area since 1998

What about reimbursement for music therapy?
Private Pay
We offer a substantial discount to our clients who pay privately.
Private Insurance
We are able to bill private insurance companies for our services. Health
care coverage for therapy varies widely, including music therapy. Any client
wishing us to bill their insurance for music therapy must provide us with a
copy of their card and complete our insurance agreement form. This form
provides essential information we need to file, as well as a description of
financial responsibilities. See Insurance Agreement.
CPT codes are used to bill insurance companies. (CPT stands for Current
Procedural Terminology). Unlike many people perceive, there are not codes for
specific therapies, but codes for procedures. This allows a variety of
professionals to bill through the same set of codes.
When multiple agencies or individuals are billing for one client, it is
advisable to have some coordination of billing services to avoid duplication
and to maximize your policy. The same procedural code can not be billed
twice in the same day. Also, to further complicate the issue, some insurance
plans offer a set amount of therapy coverage (eg: 60 visits per year).
While we have many successes with insurance coverage, there are
limitations. We are unable to bill HMOs at this time. If your PPO or POS
policy excludes music therapy, we will be unable to file claims. Insurance does
not cover music lessons, only therapy.
Waiver Funds
Many waivers in Georgia are able pay for music therapy services. For
specific information about these waivers, please visit the DHR section of the
georgia.gov website. If you specific questions about how to use your waiver
for music therapy, please call our main office at 678.277.2632.
(Please note: The "Deeming Waiver" (formerly known as the "Katie Beckett
Deeming Waiver") is not in the same category as these DHR programs. Please
see information under Medicaid below for more information.)
