| Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) |
What is NMT?
"Neurologic Music Therapy is defined as the therapeutic
application of music to cognitive, sensory, and motor
function due to neurologic disease of the human nervous
system." Treatment techniques in neurologic music
therapy are based on scientific research and are directed
towards functional therapeutic goals.
Populations that can benefit from NMT techniques include:
* stroke * cerebral palsy
* traumatic brain injury * autism/PDD
* apraxia * aphasia
* Parkinson's disease * Huntington's disease
* Alzheimer's disease * Muscular Dystrophy
* Multiple Sclerosis * Tuberous Sclerosis
* Epilepsy * Mitochondrial diseases
